Latvia Golden Visa Guide

Europe’s most affordable investor residency, often overlooked because it does not get the marketing budget Portugal and Greece enjoy. From €50,000 in a Latvian business, two to three month processing, full Schengen access.

Frequently asked questions

Latvia Golden Visa, in plain language.

What is the minimum investment for the Latvia Golden Visa?
From €50,000 in equity of a Latvian company (plus a €10,000 state fee), €250,000 in real estate (plus a 5% state fee), or €280,000 in subordinated bank capital. The business equity route is the most cost effective for most applicants.
How long does the application take?
Two to three months on average from a complete file submission. Latvia is one of the faster EU residency programmes by investment, partly because the volume is lower than Portugal or Greece.
Does Latvian residency give me Schengen access?
Yes. Latvia is a Schengen member, so your temporary residence permit gives you visa free movement across all 29 Schengen countries for up to 90 days in any 180 day period.
How long is the residence permit valid?
Five years, renewable as long as your qualifying investment is maintained. After five years of legal residency you can apply for permanent residency, and after ten years, for citizenship.
Can I work in Latvia or run a business there?
Yes. The temporary residence permit allows you to live and work in Latvia, register a Latvian company, and operate it from within the EU. This is part of what makes the business equity route popular.
